I know the quality sucks, but I don't have anything better. I'm starting to think that the only solution is to replace the CPU board, but I thought I'd ask here first. Only UP, A, START, and SELECT work at the moment. I've reseated everything and even backed out the screws a half turn, and nothing helps. And it certainly looks like someone has been here before me since the screws are all chewed up. However, when I put it back together, the buttons still didn't work! I've heard that it's possible to short the buttons within the CPU itself if the ribbon cable moves while the gameboy is powered on. I also wiped the shine off of the pads to fix the button issue. I tore it apart and gave the shell and buttons a good scrub while I wiped down the sensitive stuff with alcohol. The poor guy had been sticker-bombed with brightly colored covers that left residue behind no matter how I peeled it off. I recently got a deal on a DMG with non-working buttons.
